Since 1996The Svalbard Sweater: 30 Years in the cold.

Icon - The Svalbard sweater

This winter we’re celebrating an icon. Since 1996, the Svalbard sweater has kept Norwegians warm through the coldest of winters. A high neck. Thick wool. A distinctive pattern that has outlasted thirty winters.

Some garments stay with us for a long time. They carry stories. For many of us, the familiar pattern brings back a cold day it kept us warm, and how magical the cold can feel when we’re warm. That's how wool sweaters live on, from one generation to the next.

Wool under the tree

Warm gifts from Devold have been placed under Norwegian Christmas trees for more than a hundred years. They're gifts that stay with you long after the wrapping paper has been cleared away. They get worn, borrowed and maybe passed on one day.

Wish for a gift that lasts – and give gifts that become heirlooms.
